Vaccine Stories

Here are some of the vaccine stories submitted by ARMY

@SharkLordi : I chose to get vaccinated as I have a pre-existing condition and was made aware I was valid for the vaccine in early March. I also work with vulnerable children who would be at harm and disadvantaged if I or them came in to contact with COVID-19, to vaccinate was a necessity to getting life back to some semblance of normal and to prevent the need for self isolation.

@TRIVIALOVE_13 : I believe these vaccines are the only way to get back to Normal world. I also believe the world after the pandemic will be a lot more connected and kinder and I can't wait to live in that world.

@aiesygirl : Like any other, I decided to have my shot because I really wanted to go home since I work in a different place. As what Namjoon said, vaccines are ticket to seeing army and in my case, it is my ticket and my hope to be able to go home and see my family. Since I'm a pharmacist and considered a frontliner, I haven't stopped working even through this whole pandemic. and until today, after two long years, I'm still not able to go home. I am really looking forward to the day that I'll be able to go home.

@nomadnoor : I got vaccinated because science is real and I am a firm believer that community comes first over the individual. It also protects my elderly mom and my child who isn't eligible for the vaccine yet.

@Jcacait23 : At first, I was hesitant to be vaccinated against Covid-19 because of the news of side effects and sudden death after vaccination. After a couple of months, I've realized that as a medical frontliner we should be the one to make a move to end this pandemic. I'm so happy to make the right decision and now I'm fully vaccinated. Let's all stay safe and healthy. Follow the health protocols. End this pandemic together

anonymous : I got vaccinated because I want to protect myself,my family and the people around me against this deadly disease and moreover I want to move freely in a world where everyone is healthy and covid free again.

@meeowsuga : Because I believe in our scientists, researchers and also healthcare workers, those who has been working hard to make the COVID-19 vaccines, to help eradicate this disease.

@missmonkeyhill : I love travel. I love concerts. I love BTS. I love my kids. So to be ready for the world to reopen, and for situations like Permission to Dance on Stage LA, and taking my daughter to finally see BTS. That's why.

@OT7sKyy : I’m an upcoming intern as a medical technologist. This line of work involves collecting various specimens from various patients. As such, I didn’t want to risk my health by contracting COVID-19. I got vaccinated to prevent getting infected. But more importantly, if I am able to prevent COVID-19, I can also protect the people I love who can’t get vaccinated such as my little brothers.

@raq_gutierrez : On the two days that i was called to go i got to see almost every young person from my town in line to receive their vaccine and that made me proud

@Butterf33945325 : I care for humankind. Getting vaccinated was my decision to do everything I could to protect others especially those who are unable to get vaccinated. I adult because I’m vaccinated.

Anonymous : I signed up for the first batch of front liners in our country to receive the new vaccine. I was anxious at first even as a health care worker because this is something new but gathering facts through evidence-based medicine helped me decide that the benefit outweighs the risk.

@SDreamnel_ : Because getting vaccinated gives us the antybodies to fight against the real virus and make the symptoms less severe. Vaccines teach our inmune system to recognize the covid virus so that way we have higher surviving posibilities. Note that even if we're vaccinated we can still get sick and also infect other people so keep your hands clean and use the mask even if you're fully vaxxed!

Anonymous : My mom just had a heart attack, her fiance had asthma and has a heart problem, my grandmother is above 60, my grandfather was still a problematic medical case, one of my friends had lung cancer for years...that's more than enough motivation to get vaccinated! Just think about them! I am healthy... probably nothing would happen to me...but they must live with the fear of dieing bc of that virus! No one should life that way! Not in our society! Not in the society i wish for! If u want ur wishes to become reality, than life after them!

@BabyARMYFood : Simply put, I want out! I am a teacher and I draw my life’s blood from being a room with my students. Online is no substitute for f2f learning and the suffering of my students and myself was too much to bear.

Anonymous : im a high school student, although i don't go out frequently, i still think it is necessary to get myself vaccinated, to protect myself and my family frm the virus and to also prepare myself for returning to physical classes in school.

@Me_Travelista : I have seen first had what COVID does not only to the patient by to the family as well. It is preventable. It is up to us to step up to the plate to eradicate it. Vaccinations are made for that very purpose. I did it, it is safe. I encourage everyone to do the same. One jab to a better, less restrictive, back to normal future.

@terpsichorejm : I want this pandemic to end, I got vaccinated to protect myself and the people around me. I got vaccinated to be able to go to university and get proper education and skills because I am an physiotherapist student that will soon help the people who needs my assistance and guidance. I became part of the solution because I refuse to be a part of the problem.

@ShariKimmyDee : I’m 34 years old and I have hypertension. It was terrifying to be diagnosed at 27 and even more terrifying to learn how it could affect me whenever I got the flu. I spent most of 2020 indoors, following guidelines, trying my best not to catch this illness for me, but also for my mother in her 60s. Getting the vaccine was scary, but only because of the rumors flying around. I knew I was going to get it because I had to protect myself and my family.

@iApplezz : I've always believed vaccines were important more so once I became a parent myself, when the outbreak hit I was terrified as I have a young daughter and was also pregnant. I couldn't find any information on whether it was safe for me to get the vaccine while pregnant and I so wanted to be able to keep my children as safe as I could. I spoke to my midwife and doctor at the hospital and they gave me peace of mind. And while I was still nervous I knew it was the right thing, the safe thing to do for me and my family. My baby now carries antibodies to help fight covid and I've decreased the chance of spreading it to my 5 year old daughter. If given the chance again I would still go get the vaccine

@ClaralineShay : During the pandemic, I got very isolated. I had no contacts with people whatsoever. I got vaccinated, not because I felt like I was in danger to get COVID or transmit it, but for the hope of one day travel again, for one day seeing bts in concert, for one day without sad news. I got vaccinated for hope, by respect to those who worked tirelessly in the medical field, for those who lost people. This pandemic broke us apart, I believe the vaccine will bring us back together.

@orca122 : I have gotten vaccinated since birth. This vaccine was no different. Vaccine help protect not only myself, but my family and community. I had no hesitation in taking the vaccine and have had no complications. I am waiting with baited breathe for one to come out for 5-11 year olds so my son can get vaccinated too. I still am very hesitant to do many activities until he is vaccinated and feel like I have been living in my house for two years. I feel like he has lost two years of his life. I wants this pandemic over so that I can go to a bookstore with no mask, get on a plane to visit my sister without fear, etc.

@PoisonBunny3 : I got vaccinated because I lost too many friends and family to this disease and I want to be part of the solution to get our lives back.

Anonymous : I got COVID in March of 2020, I wasn't hospitalized but I was sicker than I've ever been in my life. I never want to experience that again and I want to protect my family and community from ever having to experience it too

@chandchild1 : I had many family members who passed away this past year. Even though not all deaths were directly related to COVID-19, I know they were impacted indirectly because this virus has done so much harm to our health care system. Hospital are overwhelmed, and so many people are not receiving the treatment they need for other illnesses because of this. My heart goes out to everyone working in the healthcare system and the familes and friends of those who lost their loved ones, whether directly or indirectly through COVID-19. This suffering and loss of life needs to end, but it won't unless we get vaccinated. So please, I urge you to do so if you haven't.

Anonymous : I honestly had to be the voice and leader for my family to get vaccinated, I was the one who pushed them to get it and informed them on why we should all get it. I also knew that if I wanted to see BTS in the future I would have to be vaccinated so I didn’t put anyone in danger

Anonymous : I work in the medical field, and that means I will be exposing myself to the immunocompromised. I have to protect them and myself by getting vaccinated.

Anonymous : It's not just my or my family's life at stake. Too many people have passed away from this. I'm doing what I can to keep people safe. I'm trying to keep my family safe.

Anonymous : Because I believe in our science and the cause. Vaccines are here to help us and they’ve been relevant for years.

@meghanwithanx : I lost my dad to Covid in April 2 2020. I don't want anyone to have to go through what my family went though, so I'm happy to do my part in containing the virus.

Anonymous : I am a junior and high school teacher and my dad is a person that is in the high-risk group when it comes to COVID-19. I am constantly in contact with people and as a result of this I have a high chance of catching COVID-19 and passing it along to my dad. My first reason to get vaccinated is to protect him. My second reason to get vaccinated is to help slow the spread of COVID-19 and protect those around me, especially my students. Fortunately I have not had COVID-19 and I will continue to do what I can to minimize the spread of this disease.

@la_miminista : I have always been aware of the importance of getting vaccinated and I was just waiting my turn. But in a live that Jimin made, he said that he had already been vaccinated and that filled me with a lot of hope, since by saying so many people who don’t believe in vaccines could become aware of this issue. The truth is that I admired too much that he touched on the subject.

@cabigaoabbygail :  I got my first dose last August 2021 and I will be fully vaccinated in November 2021. I want to be vaccinated because I want to be safe and also for everyone around me to be safe. Another reason is I support BTS, they got vaccinated for their safety and the safety of everyone around them.

Anonymous : Because I trust all the scientists, and all the doctors who developed the vaccine. And it's not only for my safety but for all the people across the globe

@sims9924 : I've lost a big part of my family due to COVID-19, I've seen a lot of people lost their jobs, business and declared bankrupt, the amount of people suffering through the last year and now is really heartbreaking. I get the vaccine for all the people who die waiting for their opportunity and for all of their dreams that didn't't came true, I promoted the vaccination process with my friends because a lot of them forgot that they have vulnerable family members; vaccines save lives but all the miss information that is running trough social media just increased the fear across the world. We are the generation who can really have power to eradicate all of this problem and start to create a new world for us and our beloved ones.

@sneha7_u : I got vaccinated because i don't have to worry about covid while traveling

@Xnnebts : Because i want my family and everyone around me to be safe from getting infected by the covid-19 virus . And it is also my small way to help our community and most especially our frontliners.

anonymous : "My mother got covid last Christmas because the people that came to her work didn't want to wear masks. So my Christmas holiday was NOT spent with loved ones. But me taking my mom to the emergency room because she couldn't breath. As soon as the vaccine was open to my age group I got vaccinated to protect my family."

Aleiram0787 : As a RN, I worked on the COVID unit and saw first hand how it destroys people's lives. I saw many people die without their families at the bedside. It was so difficult looking at these patients and not being able to give them hope because you didn't understand the disease.

@MiniTKsubunit : Because it is the right thing to do. Getting vaccinated was not just to protect myself but also people around me. And having low immunity since childhood, I was more prone to COVID and at a higher risk.

@itwasntme0901 : I got vaccinated for the reason that I  wanna protect my mom who is a senior citizen and also to protect myself while I continue to work.

@2_3_ddaeng : I believe getting vaccinated would help save many people from this pandemic. I'm hoping everyone would not only think of themselves but also others. The faster we get vaccinated and encourage everyone, the sooner we can go back to "normal" or at least help others start working again.

anonymous : I got vaccinated to keep myself and others around me like my family and friends safe as well. I didn’t want to leave myself unvaccinated and risk others catching it through me.

@decembermochi : as a pharmacist, i felt like it was my duty and responsibility to get my vaccine asap, only because i knew that this way, i’ll be able to take care of myself and of the ones around me. i got my second dose back in february, and since then i’ve encouraged patients, friends and family to not hesitate and to get their doses for their own good. only this way we can fight and win the battle against this pandemic.

SharkLordi : I chose to get vaccinated as I have a pre-existing condition and was made aware I was valid for the vaccine in early March.

Since I'm a pharmacist and considered a frontliner, I haven't stopped working even through this whole pandemic. and until today, after two long years, I'm still not able to go home. I am really looking forward to the day that I'll be able to go home.

@TDB40512554 : I didn't really hesitate to get the vaccine because it will be beneficial for me and for the people around me and the general public. For me it was about the safety of those who are around me. The babies, the children, the older generations. I am with the grace of God, on the healthy side so initially when I took the vaccine it wasn't fully for me. But I must admit as the situation gets severe in my country I am thankful for getting the vaccine for my sake as well.

@Nickyy755 : We want a world free of covid. So for that vaccination is required. For a better future let's get vaccinated. And hope to be in a BTS concert 💜 fighting #ARMYpromise

@nomadnoor : I got vaccinated because science is real and I am a firm believer that community comes first over the individual. It also protects my elderly mom and my child who isn't eligible for the vaccine yet.

MoonChildAt0000 : i want this pandemic will be over soon! i believe vaccinated help us to recover from pandemic

anonymous : All of my family members (mom, dad, sister and me) work in the medical field, and we are fully vaccinated.

@taejayjk : I hesitated at first to get the vaccine, but since I like to travel, I wondered if this would be mandatory for travel. Eventually it was confirmed that it was in fact needed, so I decided to get my jab as soon as I was eligible/allowed to (for our tannies & travel!!!) Now I’m fully vaccinated & ready to see BTS in LA (if Aussie borders opens lol)…

LottaKilic : I got vaccinated for several reasons. First of all Covid-19 has scared me senseless since day 1. When I actually caught it, it scared me even more because it made me very sick. Three months later my dad caught it and passed away. Needless to say, this made me even more scared. So although the vaccine itself also scared me, because of everything I read and heard about complications, there was never any doubt that I would take the vaccine when offered. Another reason for me to take the vaccine was that I long to get back to a "normal" living situation where we can socialize like we used to, hugging, being close, without risking our own and other people's lives. I also dream of attending BTS concerts. I won't be able to see them in L.A this year, but hopefully they'll come to Europe soon and my dream will come true. Get vaccinated, people! 💜

@jeykeyyys : I just got my first dose a week ago !! its not the second dose yet, but i will soon ! At first when i arrived at the vaccination centre i was actually shaking, i was so scared that it felt like my soul left my body 😭 im not scared of needles but im scared of the pain, hehe 😅 when it was my turn to get injected, i was a little nervous but hey, i made it!! I made it without crying 😌 so i just want to say that if other youngsters are scared of needles, don’t worry!! it’ll only take a second and poof ✨ the pain is gone!

Jeonkoo007 : I am going to be vaccinated next month as I will be 18 on nov before 18 we r not getting vaccination.my parents are fully vaccinated and it's a big need to get back to normal slowly. We all need to see our loved ones and we all need to go out without worries vaccination is the step to it.

Mono_my_comfort : I got vaccinated in order to protect myself, my family from others who aren't vaccine and I wanted to get the vaccine so I can go to my university soon.

End this pandemic together.

anonymous : I’m a frontliner but not in the medical field in a different industry I’m also diagnose with TOF (a heart condition) so I need to have much protection especially this kind of situation. So I encourage everyone to get vaccinated for your safety and safety of your loveones. Covid is real and being vaccinated give additional protection. Stay safe always

anonymous : I got vaccinated because I want to protect myself,my family and the people around me against this deadly disease and moreover I want to move freely in a world where everyone is healthy and covid free again.

anonymous : "Ever since the vaccine has been trending topic here in the Philippines, I was honestly habo a second thought about getting a vaccine, but eventually I realize that it's not just for me, not just for my family's but to all the people who keep on making effort to make their family safe and to medical workers who works really hard to fight against COVID-19 even if some of them couldn't even go home to their families. Let's us all be united to heal the world. Get vaccinated 💜💜💜 I'm proud to say that ""I am fully vaccinated"" 💖"

meeowsuga : Because I believe in our scientists, researchers and also healthcare workers, those who has been working hard to make the COVID-19 vaccines, to help eradicate this disease.

anonymous : I have seen many people who didn't get vaccinated died because of, I have seen many people who suffered due to lack of vaccine and many of them don't want to get vaccinate. But the reason I want to get vaccinate myself because the scientist over their doing all hard work for us, they are making vaccines for us without getting any sleep so that we can fight with this covid. So we have to do this for their sake, for BTS, for army, and for many people in this world. I hope this covid go away from this world, because we have suffered enough with this.

@yoongles_jimin : I chose to get vaccinated because this is the only thing we can do to help our frontliners. Being vaccinated it assure us that we are safe though not fully but it helps our body to fight the virus. I chose to get vaccinated because I wanna go back to our normal lives again.

anonymous : Prevention is better than cure. At first, I was hesitant to be vaccinated since I am a bit afraid of getting harmed by sharp objects. Still prevention is protection itself.

rmoonjia : I got Covid 19 back then, it was terrible, I have ashma, and covid worsen it, I have to struggle breathing and couldnt stop to cough, I was well informed of the vaccine and about herd immunity, so there is no disadvantage if I got vaccinated, I decided to get vaccinated to protect others, after the vacc I got covid again but the symptoms was not as bad as before, vaccine help me a lot

@fazhreall : I was very happy when I heard information from the school, that the school would hold a vaccination. I have been waiting to be vaccinated because I want the world to recover quickly, when I have been vaccinated I can go with my family and friends even though I have been vaccinated I still have to comply with the surrounding health protocols.

@btxt_ofc : the COVID-19 vaccination so that the virus does not easily attack our bodies, we can get out of the house even though we still follow health protocols, and we can meet at concerts, right? this is all for the health and happiness of all of us, later we will get much better results after the vaccine.

anonymous : I got vaccinated not only to protect myself, but also to protect my family, particularly the younger and older members of our family. Also, I don't want to be a carrier of the virus and the source of its spread. Also, I believe that the circumstances brought about by the pandemic are too much for all of us, which is why I want to inform those who are hesitant to get vaccinated that the vaccine is safe. Finally, I wanted our lives to return to normal; we no longer need to wear masks, and we are comfortable conversing with our friends and even strangers because we don't expect to get sick.

@jmina16 : I got vaccinated cause its the only wy to help my country and fellow filipino to lessen the worries about the vaccine and its also the way to be safe

anonymous : I got vaccinated because I saw my cousins who are doctors that got vaccinated, also most of my relatives from abroad got vaccinated. They got other brands for the vaccines, to be honest I was scared at first on what will be the effect on my body because it is my first time to be vaccinated. After a while my parents got vaccinated, so I decided to get my vax as soon as possible when I got the slot.

anonymous : I'm a health worker from Peru, and I've seen so many people suffering for this illness, so my colleagues and I will always support vaccination program. Please take a good care of yourself

@itsmechel_cheng : I got vaccinated against COVID-19 because I want to protect not only myself but also people around me, to help this country in a little means to be COVID free in the future, and BTS encourage me more to be vaccinated now. I still have to get my 2nd dose this upcoming October 29, so I'm still not fully vaccinated.

the_tooth_angel : As a dental practitioner, I am very aware that working today with pandemic going on, we very vulnerable in getting the virus even following strict protocols. Being vaccinated will give me an additional protection of not having severe illness when I contracted the virus.

@mochimociluv : because my parents are so concerned about health and they are so enthusiastic about this vaccine I also want to be like them to prevent it before it's too late

@Filter_Twilight : The truth is that I was very reluctant to get vaccinated, I was afraid that the vaccine would give me side effects but i got vaccinated a week ago and the next will be on the 23rd of this month and fortunately I have not had a side effect only pain in the arm but then the pain went away and I'm fine, I decided to vaccinate for protect to myself and my family , for safety of they, I really thought about it a lot and I'm sure I made the best decision

Ein_52hz : Working as flight attendant interacts with people around the world and chances of being a COVID-19 carrier and spreader is my biggest fear. Vaccination is the only way I can protect myself and people around me. Most importantly, I want to fly home and hug my family without fear.

@nununananinini : the reason why I was vaccinated against COVID-19 is as a form of my concern for people (especially vulnerable) out there in order to avoid COVID 19

anonymous : I work with children constantly, and thus feel an even bigger responsibility to be vaccinated. I am also looking into getting out of the country, and for that I need to be vaccinated.
